Ride the Wave of Coverage - with Flood Insurance

Standard property or homeowners insurance policies exclude coverage for flooding. Floods occur frequently and can happen just about anywhere. Some areas, such as coastal regions or near bodies of waters, are more prone to flooding. In some cases, flood insurance may be required legally or by a mortgage bank in order to secure a loan for a home. However, even if this is not the case, flood insurance is strongly recommended as floods can cause extensive damage and loss of use to property owners.

Flood Insurance can cover both dwelling and personal property for damage caused by the peril of flooding. Exclusions apply, so it is important to discuss with your agent about your property risks as well as coverages offered within a flood insurance policy.

There are two primary types of flood insurance:

NFIP Flood Coverage

Flood insurance that is administered by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Limited building / contents coverage available.

Private Flood Coverage

Flood insurance alternative to NFIP available from private insurers, which may include higher coverage limits.
